This Risograph aims to educate graphic designers about prominent designers from other countries. The outdoor city scene is inspired by a common theme in Nieminen's work, featuring stylizations that reflect her organic, minimalist, and vibrant character designs. The print portrays Houston buildings in her distinctive Finnish style.
A Risograph is a printing machine that quickly produces vibrant prints using a stencil-based process, similar to screen printing.
I thoroughly enjoyed this project as it allowed me to illustrate and design a composition that truly inspired me. My assigned graphic designer, Lotta Nieminen, has a style that is both beautiful and quirky, often seen in upscale luxury packaging designs for companies like Neiman Marcus. For my interpretation of her work, I chose to feature buildings from my city, such as City Hall and my first apartment in Houston, Texas. I aimed to incorporate the beauty and whimsy of city life, including cars, streets, trees, fountains, and characters such as lovers.
